Jacob's Ladder

Effects

• Tears fire 1-2 sparks of electricity in random directions upon hitting an obstacle or enemy.
  • Sparks deal half of Isaac's tear damage.
  • Sparks have a chance to arc and hit multiple enemies.
  • Tears that hit the floor due to running out of range do not generate arcs.

Synergies

• Ipecac: Electric arcs happen normally and gain benefit from Ipecac's high base damage.
• The Ludovico Technique: The Ludovico tear spawns a large number of sparks when in contact with an enemy.
  • The Ludovico Technique+Monstro's Lung: Lightning is spawned by all the tears in the cluster but also will damage Isaac.
• The Parasite: Additional tears caused by The Parasite also create arcs of electricity.
• Spoon Bender: The purple tears of Isaac can home to the enemies,dealing damage at the same time that the sparks of electricity appears (making extra damage).
• Soy Milk:Isaac can shoot very fast,making waves of sparks of electricity,but the sparks of electricity will deal very little damage (unless if Isaac tries to upgrade his Damage).
• Serpent's Kiss: Sparks sometimes poison enemies and generate black hearts.
• Mom's Perfume: Sparks caused by a perfume shot that arc to other enemies have a chance to cause the fear effect.

• Brimstone/Azazel: Overrides Jacob's Ladder.
• Evil Eye: Sparks created by Evil Eye's tears will hurt Isaac.
• Mom's Knife: Overrides Jacob's Ladder.
• Multidimensional Baby: If tears are multiplied, the sparks of electricity can hurt Isaac.
• Spectral Tears: Spectral tears make Jacob's Ladder spawn electricity for every obstacle the tears go through. Electricity does not spawn when tears go through room walls.
• Rubber Cement: Tears bouncing off of obstacles will not spawn sparks; thus, only collision with enemies will trigger it.
• Tech X: Overrides Jacob's Ladder.
• Technology: Overrides Jacob's Ladder.
• Dr. Fetus/Epic Fetus: Overrides Jacob's Ladder. Bombs do not generate sparks of electricity.

Trivia

• Jacob's Ladder is a reference to The Book Of Genesis from the Old Testament. In Genesis 28:10-19 Jacob rests on his journey and has a dream; in the dream he sees a ladder which serves as the connection between Heaven and Earth.
• This item may also be a reference to the psychological horror movie of the same name, in which a man is tormented by hallucinations and can't make out what's real and what isn't.
• Jacob's Ladder as an object refers to an electrical device that creates a small electric arc rising between two metal rods, as the item graphic represents.
