Synergies
  +
* The laser rings will linger for a brief moment upon touching a wall, allowing more damage to be dealt to enemies closer to walls.
* 20/20 - Shoots two rings instead of one.

  +
* The "R U A WIZARD?" pill effect does not work with Tech X.
* A Lump of Coal - Damage and size of the ring increases the further away it is from the player.

  +
* Acquiring an extra copy of Tech X will shoot an extra laser ring.
* Brimstone - Fire a brimstone circle instead of a tech circle.

  +
* nr Charging only increases size, not damage. It is useful for hard-to-hit enemies or hitting a wide area at once, but spamming small, uncharged shots will lead to much higher damage output.
**As Azazel, picking up Brimstone will still override Tech X. When you pick up Tech X as Azazel with his normal Brimstone, no matter any other synergies, it will not make the powerful laser circle.

  +
** a+nr With the charge bars option enabled, the rings can be released immediately as the charge bar appears for easier gauging of maximum damage output.
** This combination does not work with Lilith and her Incubus, which may be a bug.

  +
* r The maximum ring size is slightly smaller in Repentance.
* Continuum - The ring will go over the wall and come out the opposite one.

* Dr. Fetus - Shoots a laser ring with a bomb in the middle. Overrides the charging effect, replacing it with normal firing mode.

* Epic Fetus - Each missile shoots 10 laserbeams like from Technology in each direction, similar to Tammy's Head.

* Eve's Mascara - Laser rings move slower, increasing damage as enemies spend more time in the laser. Rings also appear thicker.

* Lazy Worm - Slows the ring, increasing damage as enemies spend more time in the laser.

* Lost Contact - The rings have a chance to block enemy shots.

* Monstro's Lung - Extra laser rings with different sizes depending on how long Isaac charges it are fired, will increase charge time.

* Maw of the Void - If charged for long enough, a cross-shaped marker will appear on the goggles and the black aura will activate upon release of the attack keys.

* Mom's Eyeshadow - Adds the charm effect to the laser ring.

* Mom's Knife - Simultaneously fires the knife and laser ring(s).

* Mutant Spider - Shoots four rings instead of one.

* Pupula Duplex - Increases the size of the rings.

* Soy Milk - Charges up extremely quickly, almost as fast as you can press the button. Greatly reduces damage per ring. (Tendinitis warning!)

* Spoon Bender - While the rings won't home towards enemies, they will bend to hit enemies more consistently, resulting in a substantial damage increase per ring.

* Technology - Equips both laser systems.

* The Inner Eye - Shoots three rings instead of one.

* Wiggle Worm - Replaces the outer laser ring with a star-shaped oval, slightly increasing its area of effect.

* Ipecac - The Rings gain poison damage with an tremenduous damage increase

*

Interactions
* Anti-Gravity - Overridden by Tech X. Tear delay reduced as usual.

* Azazel - Azazel's brimstone overrides Tech X.

* Chocolate Milk - Overridden by Tech X.

* Cricket's Body - Overridden by Tech X.

* Cursed Eye - Overridden by Tech X.

* Evil Eye - Overridden by Tech X.

* Explosivo - Overridden by Tech X.

* Fire Mind - Overrides the explosion chance, but laser rings have a chance to set enemies on fire.

* Fruit Cake - Overridden by Tech X.

* Goat Head - Hides the goggles, making it visually impossible to judge the charging.

* Godhead - Damaging halo effect lost, behavior of rings identical to Spoon Bender synergy.

* Head Of The Keeper - Overridden by Tech X.

* Holy Light! - Overridden by Tech X.

* Ipecac - Overridden by Tech X. Lose the damage bonus given by Ipecac on next floor. Still poisons enemies like Ipecac does.

* Loki's Horns - Overridden by Tech X.

* Marked - Laser rings can no longer be shot at angles.

* Mom's Eye - Overridden by Tech X.

* My Reflection - Overridden by Tech X.

* Polyphemus - Overridden by Tech X.

* Proptosis - The ring's damage and size substantially increase, but decreases the further it travels.

* Rubber Cement - The ring will not bounce.

* Technology 2 - Tech X overrides, but you still receive the damage down from Technology 2.

* Tiny Planet - Overridden by Tech X.

* Tractor Beam - Tech X overrides the beam. Any previous effects rendered moot by Tractor Beam (e.g. The Wiz) will return.

* The Ludovico Technique - Overridden by Tech X.

* The Wiz - Shoots two rings as per the "R U A WIZARD?" effect.

* Tiny Planet - Overridden by Tech X.

  +
* A Lump of Coal: Damage and size of the ring increases the further away it is from the player, but is actually roughly 2/3rds of tear damage up close. It takes a few tiles of distance to reach normal damage and go above it, with the maximum being 1.5x at roughly a room's width away.
  +
** r The damage is normal at point blank range but the damage increase per tile is significantly lower.

Tech X is a passive item added in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth.

Effects[ | ]

  • Isaac's tears are replaced with ring-shaped lasers.
    • Shots can be charged to increase the size of the rings.
    • The rings deal damage 15 times per second. Only the outer circumference of the rings will deal damage.
    • Rings pass through obstacles and enemies. Rings have infinite range and will travel until they hit a wall.
    • (in Repentance) Damage dealt is based on the amount charged, starting at around 25% Isaac's damage and approaches 100% at maximum charge.
      • At 30.00 fire rate or above (0 tear delay or lower), charging is no longer needed and fires 30 rings per second. Higher fire rate results in higher laser damage.
        • Damage per Tick is capped at 100% Isaac's Damage, at 90.00 fire rate.

Notes[ | ]

  • The rings are similar in appearance to the combination of Collectible The Ludovico Technique iconThe Ludovico Technique and Collectible Technology iconTechnology.
  • The laser rings will linger for a brief moment upon touching a wall, allowing more damage to be dealt to enemies closer to walls.
  • The "R U A WIZARD?" pill effect does not work with Tech X.
  • Acquiring an extra copy of Tech X will shoot an extra laser ring.
  • (except in Repentance) Charging only increases size, not damage. It is useful for hard-to-hit enemies or hitting a wide area at once, but spamming small, uncharged shots will lead to much higher damage output.
    • (in Afterbirth †) With the charge bars option enabled, the rings can be released immediately as the charge bar appears for easier gauging of maximum damage output.
  • (in Repentance) The maximum ring size is slightly smaller in Repentance.
