(except in Rebirth)

Head of the Keeper is a passive item added in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth. It has a 1% chance to drop from normal ShopkeeperShopkeepers.

Effects[ | ]

  • Enemies have a 5% chance to drop a PennyPenny when hit with Isaac's tears.
    • The chance is not affected by Luck.
  • Turns Isaac's tears into coins (cosmetic effect).

Notes[ | ]

  • This item can rarely drop from ShopkeeperShopkeepers.
  • Does not produce coins other than Pennies.
  • Hitting the front side of enemies such as the KnightKnight will still produce Pennies, even though the enemy does not sustain any damage. This can be exploited to produce an infinite amount of Pennies from a single enemy. This however doesn't work with lowered Hosts.
    • Enemies that spawn other enemies, GlobinGlobins, or enemies that regain health can also be farmed for infinite money.
  • (except in Repentance) Head of the Keeper does not work with Character The Forgotten iconThe Forgotten but will work with Character The Soul (Character) iconThe Soul.
  • When used against Boss Ultra Greed ingameUltra Greed, the coins are spawned directly in front of him and will thus heal him very often.

Synergies[ | ]

  • Collectible The Ludovico Technique iconThe Ludovico Technique: Tear turns into a giant rotating coin.
  • Collectible Monstro's Lung iconMonstro's Lung: Every tear in the burst of tears can spawn coins.
  • (in Repentance)Nuh Uh!Nuh Uh!: From Chapter 4 and beyond, any coins spawned will be from the loot table of Nuh Uh! instead, with an occasional harmless black fly spawning.
  • Collectible Sack Head iconSack Head: Coins spawned from hitting enemies have a chance to become sacks.
  • Collectible Soy Milk iconSoy Milk: Due to the Soy Milk's high fire rate and low damage, enemies can be hit many more times than usual, resulting in a larger amount of coins dropping.
  • (in Afterbirth † and Repentance)Collectible Technology Zero iconTechnology Zero: Coin tears are connected via electricity. Beams of electricity can cause enemies to drop coins.
  • Collectible Technology 2 iconTechnology 2: Due to Technology 2's constant fire rate ((except in Repentance) and reduced damage), enemies are hit many more times than usual, resulting in a higher likelihood of coins dropping.
