Spiders move very quickly and will go in all directions randomly, making them unpredictable. However, if they have a direct line of sight on Isaac, and are close enough, they will move towards him. They are also able to fit through small diagonal gaps.

Big Spiders look like regular spiders, but with a large black abdomen attached. They behave in the same way as the regular spiders, having the same movement speed and erratic behavior. However, they have just over triple the health of regular spiders, and on death, they will split into two regular spiders. They will not split if they are killed by an explosion.

The Trite is a spider variant of the Leaper. Leaps with less frequency, but at greater distances. This can make them extremely dangerous as they could potentially leap from one side of the room to the other, catching the player off guard.

Bug Bug!  Switch  Trites can jump into the top left corner of the room and may become unable to be attacked. [citation needed]

The Ragling is a variant to the normal Trite. This version can shoot 2 magenta colored orbiting tears (similarly to the Nightcrawler) as well as leap like a normal Trite. However, as they also have the option to use their orbital shot, they do not leap as often as the Trite and rarely move directly towards Isaac.

Rag Man's Raglings are an alternate version of the Ragling spawned by Rag Man and Added in Afterbirth † Rag Mega. They behave like normal Raglings but have more health. If they were spawned from Rag Man's Head, they will leave a pile of Rags upon death, which Rag Man can revive them from. If Rag Man is killed before them then they will not leave behind Rags.

Blisters are Trite variants that have much higher health but leap very slowly. They occasionally spawn Dark Balls like the ones spawned by Little Horn. They spawn a Sack upon death.

Level 2 Spiders wander around the room unpredictably and crawl towards Isaac if he is nearby. They combine the abilities of both the normal Spider and the Trite, though unlike the Trite they can not leap very far.

Ticking Spiders act like Level 2 Spiders but explode upon death. This can be an especially tricky enemy to battle as their unpredictable movement can make them hard to hit and they have the tendency to get close to Isaac.

The explosions can help blow up tinted rocks or open Secret Rooms/Super Secret Rooms.

  • Ticking Spiders used to deal one heart of damage on contact until v1.031. Their collision damage now deals half a heart.

Baby Long Legs quickly run away from Isaac and spawn Spiders from time to time. Usually, they can spawn a maximum of 3 Spiders. They run around erratically when Isaac is nearby, which can be dangerous especially if they are a Champion, as Baby Long Legs can be one of the fastest enemies in the game.

The Small Baby Long Legs is a tiny variant of Baby Long Legs that simultaneously spawns Sacks along with a small puddle of slowing White Creep. The Sacks it spawns start off at around half health and take a while to regenerate fully, so they can usually be destroyed before they start spawning spiders.

Wall Creeps will try to line up with Isaac, and shoot three blood shots quickly in a horizontal line. They walk moderately quickly on the wall they were originally placed onto and they cannot move on another wall. They have a long range, but Isaac can attack them safely by shooting diagonally.

Rage Creeps will try to line up with Isaac and fire a Brimstone Brimstone

The Thing will try to line up with Isaac and spit a line of damaging red creep. The creep has a fairly long range, spanning about half of the width of a normal-sized room. During this attack, a small Nerve Ending will protrude from its mouth.

After it uses its creep attack, it will not be able to do so again for a few seconds, although the attack's animation will still play.

  • Unlike other Creeps, The Thing can be a Champion.
  • The Thing can be killed by a Rage Creep's Brimstone laser.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
  • The Thing is a reference to the eponymous movie.
  • It is the only non-boss enemy whose name uses the word 'the'.
  • Their sprite is just a red colored Blind Creep with a stitched mouth.

  • Added in Afterbirth Most spiders will not attack Isaac if he has Bursting Sack. Wall Creeps and their variants will still attack Isaac.
    • Added in Afterbirth † Spiders and Big Spiders no longer blink red when neutral due to it.

  • Regular Spiders look similar to red spider mites, arachnids that are cousins of spiders.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

Bug Bug! Added in Afterbirth † If a Blister is scared, stunned or shrunken, the Blister will still attack Isaac by chasing him or spawning Dark Balls.
