Secret Room

Secret Rooms must be bombed into, and are located next to more than one room, usually 3 rooms, if not then 4, then finally 2, then one. Another rule Secret Rooms follow is that they will never border a room that has rocks or gaps in the way. At least one dead body is located in every secret room, which has a chance to spawn Coins, Spiders, or Steam Sale when blown up. Unlike the original Binding of Isaac, Secret Rooms stay open when you bomb them even if you change rooms. However, blowing a second opening from inside a Secret Room does not open it on the other side until after the player walks through it, so it will still be closed if you use a different exit and go around.

The X-Ray Vision item opens all available entrances to both the Secret Room and the Super Secret Room. The I Can See Forever pill does the same for the floor on which the pill was used.

If Greed or Super Greed spawn into the Secret Room, you won't be able to exit it (like a Mini-Boss room), but once the fight ends, all the exits of the Secret Room will be accessible.

Secret Rooms are revealed on the map with Crystal Ball use, Book Of Secrets use, The World card, The Sun card, Spelunker Hat, Blue Map, or The Mind, but you'll still need to open their entrance.

Secret Rooms can exist next to all types of rooms except Boss Rooms. Therefore, even if you have no keys, it is possible to bomb into a locked special room should there exist an adjacent secret room. Leaving through the door will unlock the room without requiring a key. Likewise, it is possible to bomb into Curse Rooms without taking damage by bombing in from a Secret Room. It is possible, using this method, to access Challenge Rooms even if you don't meet the health requirements, but it is not possible to "steal" the items, as the hole will be blocked up as soon as the fighting stage begins. However, items can still be stolen by using Telepills or other teleportation item.

Super Secret Rooms

Super Secret Rooms are only located next to one other room, and this room can't be a special room (item, shop, boss,...). Also, the entrance of the Super Secret Room must be directly accessible (no rocks nor gaps in the way).

The Super Secret Room entrance can be opened with X-Ray Vision or an I Can See Forever pill, and can be indicated on the map with Blue Map, Spelunker Hat, The Mind, or Book Of Secrets use.

They usually are as close to the Boss Room as possible while following the first rule, but their location can sometimes be hard to find.

Each Super Secret room has set drops depending on the floor it mimics. Note that the type of Super Secret room is not limited to certain floor it mimics (e.g. one can find a Womb-themed Super Secret room in the Depths).
Possible Spawns:

• Necropolis: Fortune Telling Machine

• Dark Room:
  • without Afterbirth: 1 Black Heart (only black hearts can spawn in this room, regardless of items used; this applies to The Lovers and The Hierophant)
  • Template:Afterbirth in Afterbirth: 4 Nulls and 6 Pills or Runes. A Black Heart spawns in the Library super secret room instead.

• Cathedral: 1 Eternal Heart. Only Eternal Hearts can spawn in this room, regardless of any items used. For example, using The Jar will drop Eternal Hearts to the ground instead of regular hearts. Using The Lovers or The Hierophant will not, though.

• Womb: 8 red hearts. Only red hearts can spawn in this room, regardless of any items. If you let Dark Bum collect the hearts, he will drop red hearts instead of soul hearts. Allow him to pick up the hearts and leave the room quickly, where he will drop the soul hearts or black hearts outside.

• Basement: 5 pills

• Cellar: 1 Trinket

• Sheol: Red Chest

• Template:Afterbirth Burning Basement: 2 Stone Chests, a Shopkeeper, and Fireplaces, including Red Fireplaces.
• Template:Afterbirth Flooded Caves: Black poop and Spikes.

In Greed Mode, Super Secret Rooms have different layouts.

• Basement: 4 pills or 17 piles of poop.
• Cellar: 1-2 trinkets or 4 Little Batteries.
• Burning Basement: 3 bombs.
• Caves: 3 keys.
• Catacombs: A random item from the Greed Mode Treasure Room pool.
• The Womb: 5 red heart pickups or 1 half red heart pickup.
• Sheol: 1 Red Chest.
• Dark Room: 2 runes.
• Cathedral: 1 Eternal Heart or 2 Soul Hearts.
• The Chest: 2 Golden Chests, 1 Brown Chest, or 1 Stone Chest.
• Library: 1 Black Heart, 2 cards, or an item from the Greed Mode Library pool.
• Arcade: 5 coins.
• Shop: 1 Gold Bomb, 1 Golden Key, or 1 Golden Poop.
• I AM ERROR: A trapdoor to the next floor.
