Not sure where to put this, but the link for the item pool is broken. It should go to Devil Room (Item Pool) instead of Item Pool#Devil Room

Joker Card might keep room open[]

Haven't tested this too much, but from what I recall on my experience using the Joker card, the Devil Room would stay open after being teleported into. I don't know about any other teleport method as I don't remember those instances, but the Joker seems to be forcing the door open. This could be useful if you have an item of interest and want to check for more (Soul) Hearts before making a deal or potentially killing yourself on the boss due to not enough health. --Tessy_Chan

Edit: After finally not being lazy and thanks to an email about the Devil Room page being updated, I tested this out. The Joker card does NOT keep the door forced open. The floor's chances of having a devil room still work normally and you can still reopen the door. Tessy chan (talk) 23:00, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

Co-op baby affects chances?[]

Hey all, I was wondering if, with your co-op baby, they take damage will it decrease your likelihood of getting a devil room? I assume that if they have a red heart container it will count against getting a devil room, but I'm just wondering if there is any evidence for or against that. Thanks in advance! --Willhelm55 (talk) 23:15, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

Yes, it unfortunately does. I don't know if the decrease is the same or less, though.

Deals with Eternal Hearts[]

I can't edit the page itself, but it's probably important to note that taking a deal that would leave Isaac with just an eternal heart kills Isaac. So, from a purely hypothetical perspective, taking, for example The Nail, with two heart containers and an eternal heart with no soul hearts would most definitely hypothetically end a 21 Eden Streak if someone would be stupid enough to take that deal hypothetically -DrBrock

Yeah it turns out that taking three soul heart deals with one heart container that isn't full (as in picked up from Old Bandage or maybe a Health Up pill) with less than three soul hearts also ends your Eden Streak - DrBrock

Black heart damage[]

Does anybody know, if taking black heart damage will preserve your devil room chances the same as taking only soul heart damage? --88.73.124.196 11:37, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

Black Hearts are just Soul hearts with an effect tacked on, so they will also help you when it comes to devil rooms, just like soul hearts.

--Dooomspeaker (talk) 13:06, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

Are we absoulutely sure about this? I've been reading a guide that says they don't and that's how it feels like in my own play sessions as well. --88.73.124.196 04:07, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
In my experiance the dark hearts behave the same way as soul hearts. play as Azazle and you'll see. It seems (from lu hundred hours thus far) that dark or soul hearts have the same effect on your chances of getting a devil/angel room. Willhelm55 (talk) 07:16, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Absolutely sure about this. While this wiki occasional has false info as well (we do what we can to purge it), there's plenty of guides that have all sorts of weird myths.

Thx to both of you. That's a relieve. Greetings, --88.73.124.196 14:33, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Devil Deal instead of Trapdoor?[]

I was in Womb II and found a devil deal instead of a trapdoor to Sheol. Is this a known bug, a new one or something else? --190.45.236.205 18:44, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

You were in a challenge that has to go to Cathedral (or maybe that stops on Womb II). In these challenges, you have a Devil Deal instead of a trapdoor. - Metarkrai

Nope, it was a normal run.--190.45.236.205 19:37, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

The same happened to me in Utero II, actually, when I had defeated Mom's Heart a sufficient amount of times to replace it with It Lives. Normal run with Eve, but I still happened to find this Devil Deal which was quite surprising, to say the least. Sekiboomki (talk) 17:39, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

(except in Rebirth) With a Real Platinum God save from Rebirth, Womb/Utero II Devil Rooms can now spawn with items. However, this may not be true if It Lives is not unlocked. Can anybody do some testing on this? I suspect that the trapdoor will still appear in the Devil Room when fighting Mom's Heart, as It Lives summons the trapdoor and beam of light upon death already. --Quantiplex (talk) 17:49, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

I came here to mention this too. It was after an "It Lives" battle in a normal run with Azazel, with DLC. I think it makes sense for it to offer a normal deal, since the trapdoor and beam of light are just sitting there to choose... 173.75.25.122 23:45, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

No dmg achievements and deals with the devil[]

It's good to note that making deals with the devil does not count towards taking dmg, so making a deal won't constrict you from obtaining the target achievement.

Room layout changes depending on damage taken or not[]

I don't know if anyone has noticed this, but what you find inside a devil room also depends on whether you took red heart damage or not, I tested using the same seed multiple times, every time I went to beat the boss without taking damage in the whole floor a got one item (Contract From Below), but when I went by taking damage in the floor I got another item (Sister Maggy).

The set of items stays the same with the seed, but it's possible to get different items depending on whether damage was taken or not.

XL floors[]

The Devil Room (or Angel Room) door acn only spawn on the second of the two boss rooms on XL floors. Can a mod add this to the protected article please? 212.159.102.190 17:42, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

Fulfilling an appearance condition multiple times[]

If more than one shopkeeper or Beggar is destroyed, does the chance of getting a Devil Room increase further?

No it doesn't. It only adds once. --Tessy_Chan

2500??[]

Is it true that, assuming you've not upgraded to Afterbirth, holding the Book of Belial effectively increases Devil Door spawn chance by 2500%? --JokerPixel (talk) 02:25, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

Devil Room bug on PS4 after update 1.08?[]

I've had devil room not appear for me three times now after completing the second floor with no red heart damage. Last time I played, the chance counter dropped from 36% to 0% right after second floor started (meaning it raised from 0% to 36% only to drop back to zero again). Is this a bug or have they tweaked the conditions for devil room appearances with Booster Packs 4 and 5? --Probolkoc (talk) 18:42, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

There's a glitch with devil rooms![]

Two, actually! The first one is seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PHZz3f9L04 I honestly don't know what happened. Basically, mrweather went through a wall in ashpit somehow, and entered a devil room. (also, deal 3 is gone. Perhaps they already used a joker card first?) The second one that's mentioned in the comments of the video is that bombing where the door will be in greed mode will play the mirror breaking sound from the downpour mirror. Busybody64 (talk) 16:02, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

chances[]

hey so since goat head always allows you to get to the devil room and this is even if you saw it last floor (which is a x.25 multiplier) the % boost it gives should either say 400% or "Sets to 100%".

Hard mode odds of getting Devil / Angel Rooms[]

Is there a lowered chance of getting these rooms on hard mode? I've been noticing that, even when taking no red heart damage for an entire floor and blowing up Shopkeepers, there seems to only be about a 50/50 chance for a Devil Room to spawn while on hard mode. I've also gotten multiple Devil Rooms in a row despite not taking deals when they actually do spawn in a row.
