Triachnid is a boss that can appear:

Behavior[ | ]

Triachnid's head hangs down stationary and can perform the following attacks:

  • Raises his head making it invulnerable and stomps the ground in random locations around the room 3 times in quick succession, leaving small puddles of slowing White Creep. (in Repentance) One of these legs will always stomp on top of Isaac's position.
    • The appendages that he stomps with can be attacked to damage him.
  • Lifts his head off-screen and stomps the ground 3 times at regular intervals on top of Isaac's position, leaving a small puddle of White Creep with each stomp. At the end of the stomps, he slams his head down quickly in the center, shooting 8 white projectiles in all directions and creating a large puddle of White Creep. He can only slam his head down along a horizontal plane across the center of the room and slams it down close to Isaac's position.
    • Occasionally performs a fourth stomp before slamming his head down and very occasionally performs a fifth.
    • Occasionally, when he slams his head down, he leaves a larger puddle of White Creep, but only shoots 4 white projectiles in the cardinal directions.
    • The appendages that he stomps with can be attacked to damage him.
  • Spits out a TriteTrite in Isaac's direction.
    • Trites can be killed by Triachnid's stomps and head slam.

Triachnid's foot stomp and head slam deal a whole heart of contact damage.

Notes[ | ]

  • (in Repentance) Unlike all other other alternative versions of bosses such as (except in Rebirth) Boss Dangle ingameDangle, Boss C.H.A.D. ingameC.H.A.D., and Boss Gish ingameGish, Triachnid has the same weight as his alternative boss form.
    • Although they share the same weight, Triachnid is actually more common than Boss Daddy Long Legs ingameDaddy Long Legs, since he also appears in the Scarred Womb.

Trivia[ | ]

  • Triachnid was added in the Wrath of the Lamb DLC for the original The Binding of Isaac.
    • In the original Binding of Isaac, Triachnid could be encountered in NecropolisNecropolis.
  • Triachnid originated from the 2006 flash game Tri-achnid, which was created by Edmund McMillen.
  • He is an alternative of Daddy Long Legs.
  • While Daddy Long Legs uses 4 appendages in his attacks, Triachnid is reduced to mostly only using 3; this is most likely in homage to the fact that Triachnid in his title game only had 3 appendages.
  • Triachnid's unlock method is possibly a reference to a bug in the original Wrath of the Lamb that caused Triachnid to occasionally replace Boss Isaac ingameIsaac in the CathedralCathedral.
  • (in Rebirth and Afterbirth) Triachnid does not have a death animation.
  • (in Afterbirth † and Repentance) Triachnid can be found in The VoidThe Void, even before being unlocked.
  • (in Repentance) Boss Blighted Ovum ingameBlighted Ovum, (in Afterbirth † and Repentance) Boss Big Horn ingameBig Horn, Triachnid, Isaac and Boss ??? ingame??? are the only bosses whose portraits were completely changed in Repentance (beyond simply adding more detail). Of these, only Triachnid, Isaac, and ??? didn't receive new sprites.
