Cat Got Your Tongue is Challenge #8. You start off with Guppy's Head, Guppy's Tail, and , as well as three Soul Hearts and three Black Hearts. This challenge is unlocked by transforming into Guppy. Your goal is to defeat Mom.

Difficulty

You start the challenge Blindfolded. You cannot use tears. Because of this, you must swing near enemies to deal damage.

Strategy

• Because you start with 3 Guppy items, you also gain the Guppy bonus. This gives you flight, and hitting enemies with , familiars, or a Co-op Baby will create blue flies.
• Guppy's Hair Ball is somewhat difficult to use compared to normal play styles. Practice with it and get an idea of how it swings before getting into fights.
  • Items that increase movement speed can make easier to use. The extra speed will allow for more precise control while also indirectly increasing the range the Hair Ball can safely be swung.
• Buying a 9 Volt from a shop can give you a lot more blue flies from Guppy's Head. If you can find one, buy it.
• By all means, try to get The Battery, or even the Car Battery. The Battery will allow for double charges, and the Car Battery will double the amount of flies spawned per activation.
• Also keep an eye out for the BFFS! item in shops, it will increase the size and damage of .
• Orbitals like Cube of Meat and Sacrificial Dagger can be great for blocking shots and dealing damage, and can be more effective than Guppy's Hair Ball.
• Hive Mind is another shop item to look out for, as it will greatly increase the damage of your Blue Flies. Since you will be generating a lot of flies with Guppy's Hair Ball and Guppy's Head, this will do wonders for your damage output.
• Tears fired by familiars will spawn blue flies, as will holding any firing key with Rotten Baby.
• This challenge becomes much easier with a co-op partner, as tears fired by the second player trigger spawning of Blue Flies via Guppy.
• Don't hesitate to buy Red Candle or The Candle in a shop to make your life easier than with Guppy's Head.
• Familiars such as Sister Maggy and Little Steven spawn Blue Flies when hitting enemies. Little Steven's homing tears can be especially helpful.
• Bob's Brain can make this challenge significantly easier, giving a free explosion every so often to fire in a straight line. Any other item that adds an extra orbital or close combat attack like the Yes Mother transformation is a good idea to pick up, since they add damage without modifying your tears.
• Black Powder is helpful for damaging non-flying enemies and bosses.
• Incubus will make things much easier if it is unlocked.
